By tying our fees to our results, we remove the incentive the billable hour creates toward thoughtless labor. And because trial is often the most efficient way to maximize the value of a case, we only select matters we truly believe in, and build them for trial.
The consequence is a stronger attorney-client relationship based on mutual incentives.
We believe that commercial lawyers, like asset managers, should be judged by their ability to generate alpha, i.e., market-beating results. So we don’t simply aim to win; we look to win where others would fail, and to win bigger than others would have done. Our fees are structured accordingly. We focus on delivering results, not hours.

Our practice focuses on complex matters that present opportunities for exceptional results. A purely billable hour structure is untethered from results, and thus fails to fully motivate exceptional lawyers to generate exceptional outcomes. Accordingly, outside special circumstances, we do not accept pure hourly engagements. Instead, we craft structures that tie our success to the results we achieve for our clients. Because we share our clients’ risk and tie our success to results, we work to generate value, not hours.
